Critisism Of Mormonism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Mormonism

So I ran across this link today while doing some research. Lots of stuff I've already blogged about is in this article.

Some areas I have not discussed: suppression of dissent, credibility of the witnesses, and failed prophecies.

Wow, this stuff from Wikipedia is great! It's like Michael Scott said on "The Office." The great thing about Wikipedia is that ANYONE can post ANYTHING they want on it, so you KNOW you're always getting the BEST information!

Thats right, except in this case every section I listed has references to real books where the information was borrowed from.

I look at wikipedia as more of a table of contents of where I can go to get more information.

I recently read Grant Palmers book and it also has some of these things in it, and he didn't get them from wikipedia.

Let's just not forget that Grant Palmer is still not a "primary source." So you're still having to exercise "faith" that he is telling you the whole story, and that his interpretation is correct. Until you've looked at the primary source docs yourself, you're trusting in someone else.

Well, unfortunately the church locks up a lot of these docs in their archive because they don't want us to read them. I wonder why ? Why is it that when there was more free access to the church archives, Mormon scholars would go in and study them, only to discover the truth and wish to write essays about it, only to find that they will be excommunicated ?
